I think...

I fell in love Tsuchiya Masami-san music. First heard of him from BT Parade tour video and album. Since then, slowly but surely, I started discovering more and more of Tsuchiya-san wonderful work of art. At this moment, I have Tokyo Ballet of Ippu-Do era played multiple times everyday. The melody is in danger of becoming ear-worm.

P/S: I do find his look during the PARADE tour year was very vampire-ish. Not Twilight faeries, you silly! Rice's vampire!

Mana aggressive streak.

I know this video is pointless, but I know many people love it. It's kinda interesting the doll-like Mana showing his aggressive streak by kicking Kozi.

If that is not enough, here is a video Mana punching Yu~ki

Serenade PV - could it be homage to Malice Mizer?

Well, I haven't heard much of Versailles and the only Malice Mizer album ever heard is Merveilles. However, watching the Versailles PV for Serenade, I couldn't help thinking that it could be a homage to Malice Mizer, especially MM during Gackt era. It also happened that I just watched an interview between Gackt (MM) and Kamijo (V), and I learn that Kamijo was MM roadie and once Kozi, Kami and Yu~ki stripped Kamijo off his clothing because he lost playing UNO. I think you could figure out what the bet was with the outcome of the game. Wondering what was Gackt and Mana doing on that ship while the others were playing UNO.

Live Town 1988

It was 1988, they were rising to stardom, all the members hair still up, U-ta still the most sullen on stage and Acchan voice still in its pop sound and eventually transform into one of the most powerful vocal in Japan rock scene. They perform Empty Girl and Future for Future. Watching the band style in this video, I'm so glad they went to London for recording. It definitely influenced their music and fashion. It also help when they stand their ground, doing whatever they want and waving middle finger to anyone trying to force things with the band.

There's a short talk before the performance and I think he was talking about release of their mini album, Romanesque, and their collection of music video, More Sexual. Acchan also talking about their upcoming tour, mentioning several venues. The song playing during the talk, prior to the performance is B-T theme, their very own opening song. I think all this Buck-Tick obsession helps improving my negligible understanding of Japanese language.

There's another video of the same performance, however this one also include performance by Ziggy and some adverts. No no, not Ziggy Stardust, Ziggy the Japanese rock band.

BUCK-TICK NICO-DOU Saturday night B-T special

Did I told you Buck-Tick fans are awesome?! Especially the one who do translations and subbing for free so that other fan can enjoy the band interview. I just love these people.

The NICO-DOU interview is one of the latest from the band. While watching the interview, the word 'aikawarazu' that means 'as always' keep popping in my mind. Try watch the interview right from their debut up to 2012, you can see the band still doesn't talk much in interview, Anii and U-ta are always the one who talk the most, Imai still talk in the same half-whisper-drag-the-word way, Hide is always the soft-spoken one and Sakurai still do his cheeky-answer-cheeky-smile combo. More than that, they still play that reluctant celebrity front, making them appearing more humble and down to earth than they already are.

BT MISS TAKE ~Boku wa Mistake~ Review

This guy read my mind. I nod and nod through out the video since I totally agree on all stuff he talk about the band and the single.

Now, I'm gonna re-watch the video and repeat the head nodding for about 4 minutes.

P/S: Official release of MISS TAKE PV is not out yet in Youtube, but we have the next best thing, the preview.

Awesome sh*t: Kurutta Taiyou Recording Interview.

Kurutta Taiyou is my favourite album of Buck-Tick. Though Six/Nine having the potential to take over the throne, Kurutta Taiyou still hold a special place as it was the first Buck-Tick album that I love in its entirety. I love the album as a whole product. It's also the album that I think mark the beginning of 'serious' Buck-Tick. Their sound becoming more unique and distinct, their technique vastly improve, their sense of style starts maturing and Sakurai voice doesn't sound 'pop'-y anymore. And here I found the subbed interview about the album recording. It was 900 hours of work! No wonder it sounds so different from their previous work.

P.S: If I'm not mistaken, this interview comes from the documentary in Picture Product.

Future for Future TV Appearance

The clip below was from a TV show. I'm not sure what is the name of the show, but one thing for sure, it was late 80s. The fun thing about Buck-Tick, it's pretty easy to determined the general time of their public appearance based on their hair style. Sakurai's blond up-do will definitely date the video back to the late 80s. With Imai, it would be more precise because he always change his hairstyle and it's always unique. With Anii, it gonna be a bit tricky since that head of hair had been defying gravity for 25 years!

I have the clip of the talk before the band perform in my archive but I couldn't find it back in Youtube. I guess I just type the sub transcript here so you can refer it while watching the video.

Here is the whole clip without subtitle.

1: Host (lady) 2:Host

1:Well, let's go
2:Yes. Hurry up. Good evening!
1: Good Evening!
2: They are Buck-Tick. Well then, only young people stand up their hair like that. They seem to be that kind of group. It's really awesome! You are Sakurai-kun, right?
Sakurai: Yes.
2:He's the band's leader. This fashion was your own idea?
Sakurai: Yes. We do it because we think it's cool.
2:You are doing it because you think it's cool. I think that's great! What's the meaning of "Buck-Tick"?
Imai: It's a firework used in celebration of festivals and stuff like that.
2:Well, as I thought, this band seems to be different and I think that's something good. Well, we'll know when we listen to their music. Well then, we won't hold you any longer!
1: Anyway, I was thinking too, they must be awesome.
2: They have this overflowing youth, don't they?
1: Yes.
2: They will give us a great show!
1:Well then, they are Buck-Tick with the song "Future for Future". Go ahead!

They are subs community that did great job helping BT global fans satisfy their insatiable BT cravings with better understanding. I have lots of their subbed video tucked safely in my archive. Apparently, Youtube is not friendly with the community, so they moved to Dailymotion.

P.S: If anyone have the link for the subbed video, please leave a comment. Thanks.

The kiss!

Just one more kiss~ *chuu*

They know fans love these kind of thing. Kinda nice since Sakurai didn't do this as often as their early days. Captured from 2007 Parade Fest.

p.s: Pepper loves Kiyoharu's cover version.

Hinan Go-Go

All BiTches know that Buck-Tick had their start as a band as Hinan Go-Go. Sakurai-san haven't decided to become the vocalist yet and Toll Anii still drumming with his own band. So this morning, Youtube decides it's my lucky day by recommending Hinan Go-Go performance video. Woo hoo!

Watching the video, I can see Araki is not really that charismatic on stage, he didn't have that X-factor. U-ta was quite fierce with that bass and Imai raw talent is really showing. You can see Imai quirky taste starts early. To read more about Hinan Go-Go and the beginning of Buck-Tick, read this awesome article by Kalavinka here. To read the more touchy feely version of early Buck-Tick history, read their novel, Love Me, translation at NGS by Cayce. I cried a little reading the novel. Poor Acchan.

So BiTches and non-BiTch, enjoy the beginning of a great band.

Part 1
- Something worth noting in the comment section
"-The first song is "NO NO BOY" and the scond one sounds like an early version of "VACUUM DREAM".
Both songs are not on the remastered editions of HURRY UP MODE but on the LP version and also on the CD version from 1987." - symphony137 -

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

P.S: Just in case, fan of Buck-Tick sometimes call themselves BiTch. Where BiTches learn to do that? From our dear Imai. Part of his stage persona comes with drawing the letter B-T on his cheek, at one point, he actually draw  BiTch.

Let's Take A Break II

L'Arc~en~ciel on Cartoon KAT-TUN (2007.11.28).

Freaking hilarious, first watched it few years ago. It was subbed version. As usual, any Youtube video that I really like will be downloaded and archive into my harddisk storage.

Part one

Part two

P.S: FanGirl-ism totally adore Hyde.

Let's Take A Break

The main point of this post is to give a break from all the BT & Sakurai posts. That said, I have to give the post some sort of content. Thus I am going to talk about Hyde.

*Stares at picture*

Uh....

*speechless*

P/S I'll try harder next time.

Over 20 years of Aku no Hana

In the spirit of Buck-Tick 25th anniversary celebration, I like to share this video I found on Youtube. The video is a compilation of Aku no Hana live performances from 1990s to 2009. The video included the Aku no Hana PV and live performances from Climax Together 1992 to Memento Mori 2009. It's well edited and really really cool.

P.S: Aside from CT1992 and MM2009, there also clips from Warp Days 2002 and some clips of lives that I'm not familiar with. From the length of Sakurai's hair and costume, I think it could be the Aku no Hana Tour in 1990 or TV live performance. There's also some clips showing Sakurai with shorter hair, wondering if that could be from TV live. If you could help identify where the clips come from, please leave a comment. Thanks :)

Sakurai the amazing performer and why I'm not fond of Dress cover.

The only reason I keep this video in my netbook is the fact that Sakurai-san steals the show from the band. This video shows how charismatic that man is. He sings on the stage like dolphin swimming in the sea. He did it with grace and mastery.

His charisma was further enhance by the fact that TMR totally adore him! The way TMR grinned at the of the show, you can totally see how happy he was. Sakurai actually hugged him on stage!

And and, he looks so tall, so dark, so menacing, and the fan service. OMG....*kyaa*

The truth is, I'm not really a fan of Abingdon Boys School, I think the name better suited Radiohead since all of Radiohead member were Abingdon Boys School graduate. Neither am I a fan of TMR solo work , I think his songs for Gundam SEED opening are very good, but Gundam SEED is my least favourite of Gundam franchise (wait, that doesn't really explains why). I'm also not really fond of their cover for Buck-Tick Dress. They did a great job updating and transforming Buck-Tick classic. The opening of the song is great, the screaming part was awesome, the guitar and all. The cover is actually pretty good.

So after years since the release of the cover, I try to find out I don't like Dress cover. I adore Balzac's cover, I adore Kiyoharu's, Theater Brook's, MCU's, Tsuchiya Masami's, Michirou Endo's.  But, but, but, in the case of of Dress, I'm on the purist side. That's normal right? People have different taste and preference. After watching the video above so many times, I noticed I did the same thing over and over again, I listen to intro and then I skipped to the part where Sakurai starts singing. I guess, I don't really like TMR singing in the song.

As live performance above concern, I think Sakurai and TMR voice goes well together, they did a great performance and fan service. However, I'm still gonna skipped the Parade album last song.

Disclaimer: Pepper is not a fan of Abingdon Boys School and TMR. Rather, she is indifferent to their music.
she listen to them once in a while in Youtube, but haven't been hooked yet. Who knows few years down the road she might end up being a fan. Well, maybe she would also remain indifferent.

The only reason she write about the band in this light is because of the song cover. Arggh~ writing in 3rd person view is really weird. The truth is, I want to make a point that, I don't hate ABS and TMR.
